Ack! 6:20 came far more quickly than I'd anticipated. First step, get dressed. Second step, try to stop sneezing and coughing. Third step, have a titch of yogurt and the last two 'nanas. Fourth step, hide ALL evidence of illness with makeup. Much harder to do today.

As we'd been encouraged to wear purple (if possible) to church today, in memory of the young people who'd committed suicide, I chose to wear one of my heirloom dresses (upper portion, crossover purple chiffon with big black polka dots; lower portion, black crepe skirt) over my longer black jersey tunic dress, along with my sparkly top and black jacket. And, yayz, yayz, yayz, it was still warm enough to wear sandals. My only jewellery (as I didn't have time to search for amethyst stuff) was cascading crystal teardrops. And I wore my circlet hairpiece, instead of the ponytail, for a change.

So, guess what there was on the way to church? An enormous marathon bisecting the city. Though my driver tried valiantly to get through, we still had to detour several times, so I only got to church about 30 minutes later than normal. I approached my team leader to mention my cold and he said I shouldn't serve if I'm suffering. Awww. But I wanted to be all in purple solidarity on camera. But, really, a wise-leader decision.

I was thrilled to see (whatever you call the pewmate who sits behind you) JL's elderly friend managed to make it to church with him for the first time in MONTHS, as she'd been quite ill. So that was lovely. Something else quite striking and lust-inducing (in me, that is) was the soloist who performed the offering. Oh! Very enjoyable!!! The sermon was by one of our denomination's elders. I find it fascinating when we have an American guest preacher for the difference in styles, etc.

I was shocked to see my driver arrive ahead of schedule. The only way he could have done that was with several cancellations. Yes, I was right. But, oh my. He took me on a crazily winding trip that I was exhausted by the time I arrived in my neighbourhood. He dropped me off at the pharmacy so I could pick up more hot (cherry) drink and cough syrup. Then, food across the street, mostly yogurt, 'nanas, gala apples, chocolate, granola bars and halloween candy. Then I struggled to walk home. At least the sun was shining. Just lovely.

When I got in, I heated up some of my pre-made pasta. Then I crashed, rousing only to have a beef stew entrée with mashed 'taters and yellow and green beens. I finally watched this week's Project Runway. I was really glad the contestant with the least practical knowledge made it (sort of this season's version of Christopher). But, still, the drama continues. I've had a quickie nap and am planning to stay up just a titch longer. Must drink hot cherry drink, use nasal spray and cough syrup. Hope to be more human tomorrow!
