An incredibly busy and exhausting hump day.

Up at 6. In the lobby waiting for my cab at 8. Well, I got stuffed in the back seat with 2 other women and there was 1 in the front seat. But it got me downtown.

[livejournal.com profile] tepintzin, got another call from Michael. He's just learned how serious the wound had been. A titch deeper and his aorta would have been punctured. If that had happened, he wouldn't even have made it to the ambulance. As it is, he has scarring of his lung. But he has gone back to full work (not light duties), though he stayed home tonight. Alex is staying with him - and paying rent. So, that's good. Protection, some company, and financial responsibility.

Finally got around to writing today's chapter of my Gilesfic. And I can't believe that November is nearly over and, yet, I've still managed to write every day. Not always good, but I am producing something each and every day. It's a good exercise in discipline and in prodding myself to using my imagination. See: my zany version of NaNoNoWriMo!

Anyway, I think I'm about to collapse. For sure. At least I don't have to wake up tomorrow morning. I'll cook a new soup and Brian is coming over for dinner. And, though he doesn't know it, helping me put up the trees and take the lattices to storage.

Very, very, very, very tired hugs,
Me.

This is for all of you living down mostly south (although because of crazy 49th parallel geography, some north) of me on your holiday weekend.

A = Absence (being apart during the year, but trying to get together at least for one long weekend)
B = Baking (wonderful aromas coming from the kitchen mean you're really home - even if it's only heat'n'serve rolls)
C = Candles (even if it's sunny outside)
D = Driving for hours (because it's worth it)
E = Eggnog (season is just around the corner)
F = Family and Friends (and it's wonderful if each can be both)
G = Games after dinner (old-fashioned ones like Charades)
H = Helenka (don't even question it! my list, my rules)
I = There is no 'I' in 'Thanks'
J = Jokes (and laughing at even the groaners)
K = Kisses (and hugs from those you treasure)
L = LJ (for bringing so many of us together)
M = Money (not what it's all about)
N = Neighbours (which should all be good ones)
O = Optimism (there's always room for hope)
P = Pepto-Bismol (because you ate too much, even though you swore you wouldn't ... this year)
Q = Quiet (time for really giving thanks)
R = Raking up a big pile of leaves (and jumping in it because You.Are.Five)
S = Sharing (chores, from the setting of the table through to washing up of dishes)
T = Okay, you can bring on the turkey (I prefer boned and stuffed - mega tender and a breeze to carve)
U = Undivided (loyalty and love)
V = Virtual celebration (which is what I'm having with you)
W = Welcoming people over your threshhold (most vampires excluded)
X = Xander (hey, there was food!)
Y = Yams (my fave way of preparing them is either as scalloped, or baked in a sauce of maple syrup & Canadian whiskey!)
Z = Zonked out (which many of you will be by the end of the day; just don't get carried away with the shopping tomorrow)

Lots of hugs to my American (and transplanted Canadian) friends out there!
Just me.
