Yippee! My doctor treated my concerns seriously yesterday. Yes, I've picked myself off the floor, already. I actually started to cry a bit (yes, we are all so surprised) when I was discussing the loss of mobility and increased pain (I actually couldn't hold my cup of OJ in the morning!). So I said there was no way I could survive without a full daily dose of the meds. And ... she agreed. But she's still worried about side effects. I thought the concern was for the liver, but it turns out she thinks I could get an ulcer from the pain meds. Who, me? Cast-iron tummy and all? Well, she prescribed another med that I have to take with the arthritis stuff. She also agreed to prescribe physio. Now I just have to find a place. And she said the best thing for me would be to take Aquafit classes, because of the buoyancy of the water. Me and swimming pools are such unmixy things, but I guess I'd better never say never.
After the appointment, I had my usual sushi lunch on the mezzanine patio. I'd already done my shopping: chocolates, truffles for a gift, stuff from the drug store and a new sex manual (hey, it's never too late to learn something, say I).
Then I was off to the Bay to have my makeup done by Dior. This time I had a wonderful artiste who'd been chosen by my fave (Andrei). She gave me delicately smoky eyes, an innocent blush (!) and Angelina Jolie lips (her words). Mind you, I can't kiss anybody (the lipstick would come off), but the lips look lush and pouty. I also picked up more Euphoria shower gel, a solid perfume compact adorned with Swarovski crystals and got more gift goodies. Then I flew back down to my pickup point. As I sat waiting, I called M to say that everything had gone very well and that I was on my way home.
My ride was a few minutes early. Of course, as soon as I got home, I had to drop my stuff, turn around and get my prescriptions filled. I dropped them off and went across the street to have my spa pedicure and manicure. Oooooh. I so needed that (the chair massaging my back at the same time as the feet and legs are pampered). After those 90 minutes, I did a bit of food shopping. Surprise! My appetite is back, now that I don't have to be so worried about the pain. I picked up fetuccini alfredo and beef stroganoff. Also a basket of fresh figs, more blue grapes, lettuce and baby roma tomatoes. Then back to pick up the meds at which point I nearly fainted. The anti-ulcer drug is fucking expensive. Yes, I know I won the battle with my GP, but at what cost (literally)? Le sigh. I'm not made of money. Le sigh again.
I really enjoyed dinner (for a change). I'd intended to go over to M's, but the skies were threatening and we had a mildly violent storm. So, no walkies last night. I could hardly keep my eyes open; the stress of the experiment had worn me down. But, before I went to sleep, I listened to a voice message left by the cat (well, channeled via M, tee-hee!). It was adorkable.
So, yesterday had been very productive. Now I just have to get on to getting the physical side of things in motion. I know, never a dull moment in my life.
