Well, as I'd decided I wanted to join Brian at the Wine and Food Expo, I sent him an e-mail last night. And, then, I stayed up reading until ... oh, oh six hundred hours. Yikes! Set the alarm for 11 at which time John called me. Brian had already replied so I threw myself into a very hot and long shower to try to exorcise the pain. We were a little late leaving as I'd asked Brian to do some 'puter upgrading for me. But, finally, we were off. I didn't bother wearing a coat, just leggings, sandals over knee-highs, turtleneck, silk top and wool jacket. And, of course, my beret and gloves. I thought the last thing I needed was to be walking around for hours wearing a coat.
When we arrived downtown the closest parking lot was full, so we had to go way down the street before the Dome. And, then, after we'd parked, there were ONLY stairs. So I pushed my walker up the exit ramp!!! After that, a long walk to the Convention Centre. When we reached the South one, Brian thought we should be in the North one so we trekked through the Skywalk north. Um, not. So, back we came and finally found the right place.
We had fun, but it ended up being an expensive outing. Brian spent $30 and I spent $57. As he'd had lunch and I'd only had yogurt, I got a small dish of Penne a la Vodka. Oh, good, carbs. Now I could have a drink. We then each had 2 amazing truffles, a swiss cheese flower with a jammy centre, raspberry tartuffo (his vanilla and mine chocolate), 3 shucked oysters with a sprinkle of lemon juice, argentinian(?) shiraz, chardonnay from the beaujolais region and inniskillin ice wine. I also brought a truffle and a little chocolate home. And I splurged on a bottle of inniskillin ice wine to save as a pre-Christmas treat. The card said it had fresh tangerine, papaya and lychee as its primary flavours and it was amazing really cold. We'd wanted another glass but they were out so we ended up with the raw oysters instead. Note to you non-Canadians: if you've never tried ice wine, you are so missing out on something spectacular.
Afterward, even though it was already dark - and I couldn't believe I agreed - I walked back with Brian to the parking place and waited until he got the car up to the ground level. And, then, it was time to go home and ... um ... go ... OUCH. M called as we were driving home and was glad I'd had a good, though totally too-energetic, outing. Once home, I excavated some chicken wings from the freezer and had them with two glasses of Smirnoff's instant Mojitos. Not sure if I like drinking something that minty. And I watched the latest episode of SGA, The Seer.
Anyway, sleep and pain killers are calling out to me and their siren song is most seductive. So, I think I'll submit ... succomb ... surrender. ::giggles at use of suggestive words::
Amused hugs to all,
H.
