Okay, I just checked the mood indicator below and it's lacking fragile which is what I most definitely feel like right now. Thirsty was a distant second. Still ....
It's no wonder. But, before I got to work, I texted Brian and we went back and forth a bit. I carried on doing so much yesterday. The only things I didn't do was a quick wash of the kitchen and bathroom floors (which weren't bad to begin with, but it was the principle of the thing, you know). After going to all the trouble of buying silver and gold chargers, I used my old shiny red ones because they matched the table linens (Victorian floral) perfectly. Thankfully I had no cooking to do prior to M's arrival as we were starting with shrimp cocktail and bloody marys.
M arrived with John in tow around 3:30, as he'd helped bring over a ton of prezzies. He said he'd be back for an after dinner liqueur and dessert. Well, M and I were supposed to have been watching White Christmas except that I couldn't find the DVD. Note to self: catalogue location of DVDs. So I chose two movies: Nanny McPhee and Last Holiday which we ended up not watching as we were just polishing off our drinks and giggling. A.Lot. Would you believe the fancy shrimp ring came with No.Cocktail.Sauce? Is this even allowed? So we improvised, M with the garden cocktail, vodka, tabasco and worcestershire and I with Asian sesame salad dressing. It was the first real food I'd had all day (two glasses of OJ for brekkie and one of eggnog for lunch).
( further holidayish meanderings )
I staggered home at 7. And promptly collapsed, except for the drinking of many cans of fresca. Had a 2 hour nap and just woke up to post. As M had called asking us to postpone dinner till Friday, I won't have to do anything tomorrow and that suits me just fine. I'll just wear the gorgeous brooch that M gave me and waltz around the clean place. Which M really, really appreciated. So I guess the dilapidated feeling was worth it.
Anyway, I'm going back to reading and drinking fresca and just going aaaaaahhhhhhh with relief. I hope I can resurface as almost fully human tomorrow. Nighty-night hugs to all,
A most blessed H.
