But ... leading up to that, I continued working on my appeal letter. Definitely must send it tomorrow. I heard the building manager walking outside, so I quickly went out to ask about the disappearing gate in the fence. She said it was all a bureaucratic screwup. Why does that not surprise me? And saying that the path is not safe! Hello. I could have designed the landscape better than they did.
Anyway, we both moved back indoors and were talking in the lobby when John sauntered in, home from work, looking very elegant. He called me a short while later, asking if I was doing anything and would I like to accompany him to feed the duckies, etc. I agreed, just asked for enough time to pull more clothes on as I was wearing my black satin nightie and my stained glass top. I took the easy way: just pulled on underwear and leggings and (ick) SOCKS, kept the other things on and just added my fall coat, winter scarf and gloves. We met a few minutes after 6. I told him how our gate had disappeared, so we had to go down to the lake the Long. Way. Around. Well, I'm an old hand at that.
We started out on the boardwalk bridge, then walked over to the rocks but there were no birdies there, so we returned to the bridge where John threw down clumps of leftover rice, creating a waterfowl fluster. Then we chased the setting sun to another part of the park, closer to the street, then finally we came home in twilight. He'll probably pop in to see me on the weekend.
I had a melange of leftovers for dinner: spanish rice mixed with sauteed Chinese veggies. So the spices were ... different. Still ... food and I always consider leftovers to be free.
I haven't decided if I want to watch Midway tonight. I may just snuggle off in bed, as my legs are feeling cold. Oh, and before I forget, I rerecorded my voicemail greeting. I used the 1-minute intro to SGA as the background. Hee! And I can haz a vast realm. Even if I didn't say the magic words (Queen of you-know-where). Nighty-night hugs to all,
H.
