I love having a schedule that includes a weekly YUMMMM Day, courtesy of Brian and me. It's one of the highlights of my week.
The day, though, was a bust. I was soooooo cold that I didn't dare wash my hair. [And, yes, I'm still huddled next to the space heater. And my fingers hurt.] Out the window went my plans to go to the greengrocer's or, if I'd been really ambitious, to the supermarket. So, what did I have for lunch (brekkie was not even an option)? Um ... sardines and a glass of water. And that's bad. But I was out of juice and didn't feel like having frozen berries as my source of Vitamin C.
I was glad to finally start getting ready for Brian, but he left work a few minutes early so I ended up scrambling to get dressed and put my makeup and hair on. But I couldn't find the exact sparkly scarf I wanted to wear. Wah! So I wore a semi-plain one just to make do.
Tonight's menu was cornflake crusted baked goat cheese rounds served on a spring mix salad that included diced pear, with a balsamico, oil and shallot dressing. And toasted walnuts. Ask us how much we loved this dish? Oh, wait. You'll have to wait until after we've finished moaning. Nope, not yet. Are you kidding? No ... but we're almost done. Okay, we can talk now. But, wow, do we want to make that dish again.
As dinner was so quick and easy, Brian drove me home to look at l'il Liblikas and my colour problems (and my spellcheck, too). Ack. If I change one thing, I lose another function. He has to come back. We enjoyed the last bit of sun (though it was cool) by walking to the picnic table and choosing our dish for next week. I know it will be excellent. And most delicious and yummy.
Okay, I've talked about food enough. Or maybe not. I just watched our latest epi on YouTube. It's the melted brie with sauteed veggies. Um, could I have a chorus of YUMMMM again? Anyway, it's time to watch a second epi of N.C.I.S.. I think I may get both John and Brian hooked on it. Which means I'll have someone to discuss the show with. Yay for solidarity.
