::sighs::

I guess I must have been distracted, lolling about on here, reading and commenting. Well, I'm still pretending it's Sunday, so all references will be to "today".

I started off the day with Chicken Alfredo. Yum. Hot pasta. I caved and wore hosiery with my sandals this morning. Well, it was raining a bit. And I wore my lovely ivory silk with black slashes and my fortune in pearls. I just wanted to feel pretty and stuff, because I knew there would be people attending the fundraiser high tea at the Arcadian Court today and I was pouting on the inside because I wasn't going (even though my friend who sits behind me says we could have worked something out, such as strapping me to the roof rack!?!?!

The music today was extra fab and our sax player (she also plays clarinet, accordion and who knows how many other instruments) shared a jazz solo with our guest vocalist. Mmmmm. And I'm thinking of doing something new in the way of volunteering. The audition for new lectors was last Sunday and one of the current people said I should have tried out. Well, my life is a bit too complicated right now, but I think I will do it the next time. Even though the logistics would be a pain, as I can't walk, can't carry the Bible up to the lectern, can't stand to read and can't see. Ahhhh, so that's a few obstacles (that I can work around with a little extra effort, I guess). But it would still be nice to do something else from a different spiritual angle.

It had stopped raining after church ::cheers:: so my sis and other friend sat around outside waiting for our rides. Mine came first. But, boy, was I driven around the block (er ... city), until the driver turned around and drove me home instead of continuing to the too-far-away pickup. Hallelujah!

When I got in, I had more of the multi-seed crackers and spicy peanut tuna. Later on, I munched on several apples and 'nanas and had a bit of ... chocolate. And I've been sitting here with my tree lights on, enjoying the cheery brightness. I copied my Giggly Ballerina Piggly hospital report for my CNIB talk on Thursday and am thinking of how to talk about entertaining. And I moved a couple more objects off the window ledge, so that's a very good thing. I guess going to sleep would also qualify as a very good thing. Okay, I'll take my own advice. Nighty-night, all.

Well, it's a good thing it was magical here (but more on that later).

I had a lazy morning when I finally woke up. I entertained myself by having salmon in dill sauce over rice with broccoli and carrots. Dill sauce = mega yum. And then I got tired again, so I gleefully slipped back into bed for a longish nap, with the alarm set for 3.

Okay, I have to get my act going. After seeing what the temp was at 4 p.m. (66F woo-hoo), I'd already slipped on my leggings and tunic, short-sleeved jacket with my fall coat (just in case it decided to rain) - but with bare feet in sandals - and went out, carrying a few things to recycling and my red winter coat to the cleaners next door (where John does his laundry, too). The lady was really nice (well, John said she was); but the bonus was that she did have black replacement buttons for my coat (that, even though it was a cashmere mix found at Value Village, had had cheap red buttons of which I'd lost one). And, when I left, she kept using my name: "Thank you, Helena; Good-bye, Helena." Smart lady.

Okay, and then I went next door to the community centre to vote. And I really should have gone earlier because, with more people coming after work, it was crowded and slow. But I finally got to vote and it was fed into an electronic reader. [And here's the bad: a neanderthal who's against diversity, most of the transit, immigration, etc. was named mayor. Arrgghh. /rant]

After I voted, I decided to walk down to the park at the lake (didn't have the steam to make it up the hill to the promontory) where I sat on my walker on the boardwalk bridge. There was a gaggle of very squawky ducks (one had quite a raucous laugh) with a goose or two. But I was disappointed there were no swans (so, where were they?). And, then, lo and behold, one youngish swan swam into the lagoon, preening its feathers, and then swam out the other side. But it made me happy. I sat there for nearly 30 minutes and finally left because the sun was sinking below my building behind me ... and also I hadn't washed the dishes yet (a tradeoff I suggested to John where I wash dishes but he takes out the garbage). So I hurried home and had them done by the time he got in.

Lunch and dinner got squeezed into one meal. First off, mixed carrot and potato soup that I ate cold. Wonderful blend of textures and flavours, including the bacon bits. And then it was more apples and 'nanas, though I may have gone overboard with the apples. I know: who, moi?!? So I had another wee nap to try to settle the tum. And now I'm up, probably going to read for a bit. And that's all she wrote, folks.
