This has to be the weirdest Dominion Canada Day holiday I've ever experienced. There's been a celebration in the park next door all afternoon. They've had a variety of performers: a steel pan band, a Jesus hiphop group, some bluesy jazz, some rock, some stuff that was unidentifiable ('cuz I don't keep track of today's musical trends). The MC had a Texas accent. You should have heard him pronounce "Espana" when he kept updating the Euro final game. He just finished announcing all of the raffle prize winners - to be collected from the guy in the cowboy hat in the prize area. As I said ... weirdest thing ever. Plus sno-cones and food, too.

I was just happy to be inside and trying to stay cool. And I think it's time for a wee nap now. Until later, y'all.

The Loonie (Canada's one-dollar coin) is 25 this year. I can't believe it debuted that many years ago. And, hey, terrific name!
