I had a delightful day spent in the company of my bestest baby brother Brian. Okay, so he's my only chosen baby brother, but he's still the bestest.

The day did not begin in a promising manner. Trying to preserve my new hairdo, I went to sleep lying on my back. Ugh. So not my fave position. My body objected by waking me up at 4:54. Arrgghh. I tried to fall asleep again, but gave up at 5:25. I blame the ev0l palindromes, naturally!

OTOH, I had no reason to complain when I found all these hours ahead of me. I could take my time to get ready. As it was a warmer day today, I could wear my fall coat over an all-black ensemble. Just too bad I had to stand outside leaning on my cane for 15 minutes as my minivan was late. But I still arrived at the hotel with about 34 minutes to spare as I sat in the lobby in a regal loveseat waiting for Brian. He showed up with about 12 minutes to spare. But he made it. We were shown to a table in front of a fireplace at the entrance to the restaurant. I began the experience with an expensive glass of champagne (Moet et Chandon). Tea was a unique experience. We received one savoury morsel (a mushroom tartlet with a bit of crème fraiche served on a separate plate. Then we were served the rest of the savoury dishes, already separated for the two of us. My fave was the Beef Wellington mini slider. It was magnificent. We also enjoyed many of the other choices. Then came the selection of desserts, also separated onto two plates. Along with each of us having had two pots of tea each, we were beginning to ... suffer. But we still kept slogging away, finished the two scones, one a candy one, the second plain. Okay, now I'm in pain. Not going to look at food until tomorrow!

After we'd paid, we sat in my regal loveseat and waited for my minivan to arrive (20 minutes late, alas). We have major plans up our sleeves for next year, so I'll have to dig up some info. ::iz mysterious:: When I left Brian, I was carrying not only the shower gel he'd obtained for me, but also a wee giftie which - according to tradition - I won't open until Christmas ... Christmas Eve at tthe earliest. The other passenger was also a member of my second blind group. I wouldn't have known if he hadn't told me. He'd joined just in time to join us on our Stratford trip. Our driver found us very entertaining as we chatted ... the concept that we didn't recognize one another, 'cuz we can't see!

I was happy to be home a few minutes shy of 6. After watching my game show repeats, I decided to watch last night's MacGyver, a very intense episode, physically and emotionally. Great ensemble acting.

Anyway, I really should go to bed. I have everything ready for church tomorrow with the exception of outfit. And jewellery. Memo to self: find something cute and colourful to wear because you'll be on duty. Aye aye, Ma'am! And, now, the siren call of gorgeous sleep.
