Perhaps true ... and occasionally good, but THIS is ridiculous. I just woke up at 11:29 after having dozed off since the end of the 6:00 p.m. news. It didn't matter that the heat was cranked up (actually a catalyst for me) or that the pillow mountain was much too high (my mind and body were able to overlook it), I was ordered to sleep and ... I obeyed. Oy.

So, I'd been expecting a deep freeze overnight but I'd been wrong. It was just a couple of degrees shy of freezing. And - oh, joy, - S. did not go out to work for her friends, she was home when I left. She'd even gone outside to move away the recycling bins our helpful neighbour had boxed my walker behind. As she was moving them, she saw something glittering underfoot. Yes, it was my missing citrine earring. Yay for finding it. Boo for the fact that it's slightly mangled. I haven't looked at it yet, but she says a jeweller can replace a couple of links. So, perhaps I will still have a citrine ensemble eventually.

My bus arrived as soon as I walked outside. Good mental communication, says I. I arrived at church around 9:15, gave my dress to our sewing angel, Barb, then looked at this week's sale items. Nope, nope, and nope. Nothing appealed to me. I certainly didn't need more tree deccies, so I guess my shopping is over. I invited a newcomer (Israeli guy who basically spoke only Hebrew and Arabic) to sit next to me - especially as my usual companion was home in bed (in Cobourg) sick with a bad cold. Church was - I know I run out of superlatives - amazing! Once again the two senior pastors (retiring and elect) shared the duties. The jokes were priceless! I lived for the music today, including a four-hands piano accompaniment to "Angels From the Realm of Glory" with all those brilliant jewelled sleigh bells tinkling. Church-John brought me a silly card: a smiling pig picture to put on my fridge. Just one prob, no magnet. So it's on my dining table instead.

I had lots of time to waste after service so I sat and waited and kept warm. My bus showed up around 12:55. I was the only passenger so got home very quickly, hurrying inside to stop my shivering. And I got down to work crafting my weekly review. I needed reinforcements, so watched most of the service, listening to the Anthem twice and the sermon once. Don't you love my priorities? I finally posted (was it around 5?) and then collapsed, waiting for the news.

Now you know why I'm irritated for having lost so many hours to sleep. Sigh. So I'm going to stay up to salvage some recreational time. Good thing I don't need to go anywhere this week. And I just figured out why I'd slept so long. We were expecting a deep freeze AND lots of sticking-around snow this afternoon. My body reacts by sleeping. Hey, that's the logical thing to do. I guess I'll find out in the morning if it snowed. ::crosses fingers against::
