So, one normally doesn't associate the ::whispers:: Government with gifts, but I received a letter in my account saying they'd recalculated my tax refund and were transferring nearly $60 into it. They do make these kinds of adjustments a couple times per year, so that wasn't unusual, though the closeness to Christmas was. Anyway, found money is good money.

The second one was just me treating myself. At the drugstore, after stocking up on "Total" hot lemon drink to battle just about everything and Hall's Cherry throat lozenges (because they're really powerful), I asked about the Euphoria gift set. Even though it contained duplicates of what I already have (perfume spray and roll-on perfume), it did have the body lotion which I don't have. So I gave in and bought it. I've decided I'm going to wear perfume every day (except for Sunday because we have a scent-free policy at church), just to feel ... you know ... soignee (and why can't I trigger an accent aigu any more?).
So, on the shortest day of the year, we were expecting to be hit with a major snow storm. The blonde did not like this at all. So, the universe bent to my will and ... eased off the gas pedal.

I was picked up around 10:00 and on my way to the mall. My stylist wasn't busy prior to my appointment so took me early. Talked about the difficulties with my hair and found out - to my astonishment - that my hair grows UP and sideways at the nape. Now I know why it won't lie sleek and flat. Who'd have guessed? I was still mostly meh about the new cut and missing that one glorious month (April) when she'd given me masses of curls, never to be repeated again. So, in the new year, I have to find myself a couple of luxurious-looking curly wigs. ::nods firmly::

After I was done, and exchanged a warm hug and Christmas wishes, I went on to the drugstore which produced many goodies for body and soul. Then on to the supermarket. By that time I was tired and just wanted a few things, but I couldn't find fancy cookies or mince tarts. So I just treated myself to an organic shrimp ring. I then sat for 90 minutes waiting for my ride (and eating my hunger-staving sandwich and reading my news feed on the phone). To add to the positive aspects of the day, my driver showed up almost 30 minutes early and got me home way ahead of schedule, not to mention ahead of the stupid snow.

SuM was surprised to see me home so early. We're going to have movie night tomorrow (watching last year's "Moonlight"). I suggested we have dinner too and will contribute the Salt'n'Pepper Chicken Wings (to be delivered tomorrow). Then I went and collapsed for a little while. Watched the customary news and game shows. Defrosted my shrimp ring and, because it didn't come with cocktail sauce, I dipped it into Sesame and Ginger Salad Dressing. Good choice. I also had a Peach Bellini vodka cooler. Hmm. Needs to be ice cold next time.

Now I and my spiky'n'fluffy hair are off to bed, to read for a little while (as I got another book from the library today). Must do chores tomorrow morning before groceries arrive. And look forward to that - what - one minute of extra daylight. YES!!!
