All thanks to my electronic companions. But, first, not wanting to give up on excellent sight, I was busy with my blind group stuff and didn't go to bed until ::giggles:: 4:00 a.m.! Yes, I is silly.
I woke up naturally at 10:33 which was a relief, so I didn't miss too many daylight hours. I had a reply from church-John, saying we could have our outing to Costco and lunch at the local fish'n'chips place next Wednesday. Yay!
So, a tiny bit of aggravation as my computer froze twice, forcing me into a hard reboot. Sigh, baby. Why? The education (and sad delight) was getting our March book (The Pearl That Broke Its Shell). I had forgotten the summary and was intrigued to find it was about the lives of two Afghan women, a present-day girl and her great-great-grandmother. I'd read about the let's all pretend practice of choosing a young girl in a family with no boys, and basically turning her into a boy, with everyone turning a blind eye and accepting her as a boy and designated protector of her sisters. I now knew what it was called, namely bacha posh. I don't know how this book will end, whether I read about it or a historical account. I had to laugh at one myth: that walking under a special rainbow would turn you into the other sex! Anyway, I'm up to Chapter 12, fascinated while finding yet more examples of the commodification of women in the world.
The rest of the day was devoted to that other electronic device, namely my TV. I caught up with N.C.I.S. Nola before hitting tonight's shows: an outrageous Big Bang Theory with terrific Trek guests, an okay Young Sheldon, a heartbreaking and terrifying "Oh, shit" epi of The Orville (have to hope for redemption next week in the concluding epi), and ended up trying to cheer myself up with Will & Grace.
Anyway, even though it's almost midnight, I'm about to have dinner! Time for salad shrimp and … something, lol. Let's see if I can restore some colour into this font.
