Sober New Year's Day Resolutions

Yes, of course I'm awake. You should even ask?

When I crawled into bed after midnight, I was pleasantly surprised to hear the delicately sparkling melody on my cellphone indicating that I had received a text message. Well, of course it was from Brian, wishing me a Happy New Year. In the dark (which was quite a technical feat) I returned the sentiments. And then I slept.

Well, for three hours. Le sigh.

So, I've been up and there's a lovely soup simmering, full of chopped sweet onion, diced tomatoes, beef marrow bones and dried soup mix. It'll be ready around 7:30. I just wish I had some sherry to add to it. OTOH, I do have other things but they just don't feel right to me.

Anyway, back to resolutions.

I resolve
to try
to perhaps
make an effort
to not be so
scared of the future.

Considering how 2008 dragged me down, I'd consider any fulfilment of the above to be a remarkable accomplishment.

Anyway, that is all for now.
Back to savouring the amazing aromas slipping around the corner from the kitchen.

But, hey, at least I can resolve to always make good soup!
