I can see it now. My epitaph shall be: And then she came home to do the dishes!
It's no wonder I took Brian out for his birthday dinner on Thursday: the last thing I wanted to do was ... [drum roll] dishes.
Friday, M. came over to spend the night and we had a fun, impromptu dinner on the coffee table in front of the fireplace, with a bottle of wine. But, don't ask me how, when we went to bed, the dishes filled the entire sink, so I left them to soak overnight.
Saturday, John came over to join us for lunch. We made filet mignon (thanks for the treat, John) and accompanied it with a platter of asparagus, roasted red pepper strips, gherkins, and sliced beets. And sherry. So, when he and M. left, I was stuck with more than one mountain of dishes. Ugh. Cold mucky water.
Today I went from one extreme to the other: church and being on duty in the morning (and it was grotesquely cold with the wind chill) to warming up at home and then turning around and returning to the church for the volunteer appreciation event. We had nibbles and drinkies and there was karaoke and door prizes. Oooh and yaay. I won a vase from William Ashley. Yaay, again. Anyway, M. and I left before the event was over, as we were tired - and I came home to ... can you guess ... yes, dishes! Well, actually, just the pan from the steaks. And I put away all of the other dishes. Is it any wonder the skin on my hands feels like sandpaper?
Anyway, that's just my silly rant for the latter part of the week. But, before I go, I must thank the most considerate and thoughtful
lawyergirl15 for the virtual Valentine candy. It's so pretty and has absolutely NO calories. Even though you are so busy, hon, with your new (IMO, frankly overwhelming) responsibilities, it's amazing to see how you don't lose sight of the small details. Le sigh. I wish I could be so mentally organized. Can you give me an infusion of whatever it is that works for you?
I'm still determined to catch up with everybody. Maybe if the world stops celebrating holidays for a bit. And I think I have my wish.
Good night and warmest thoughts to all,
the tardy queen.
