Oh, that was the best part about the service. All the kids (from Children's Church) who want to participate get to help with dressing the altar, coming up both aisles carrying flowers. Okay, so sometimes the smallest ones have their parents carrying the pots. But it's really sweet. They also carry up (whatever it is that things on a stick are called) huge sparkly butterfly lollipops and leave two, flanking the altar on either side.

The service was wonderful, as is customary. However, because I was sitting in Wheelchair Alley, I wasn't able to see as well (or concentrate), so I missed bits of Brent's sermon, though he was so emotional in parts of it that he was in tears. Diane's band was excellent. We never know what kind of musicians she'll get; this time we had a couple of violins(?) and their melodic accompaniment added a gentle sweetness.

I gave my sis, RS, a chocolate Easter egg before the service. Also, when my driver dropped me off, I was joking with a young thing outside the church who'd been born the year I first began attending MCCT (1990). Ack! Honey, don't make me feel absolutely ancient, lol. And, after it, as I'd changed my ride home, I had about 1.25 hours to waste socialize. For once, I got birthday cake (as I'm usually gone by the time it's served). And I was thrilled to bump three times into the Ambassador's Consort (emeritus, as the Ambassador graduated to his Heavenly rest a couple of years ago or else he's flying by a whole bunch of planets). Imagine my shock when I learned that Bruce had closed down his very successful law practice (I still remember the party when he was called to the bar). But he was tired and wanted to retire, so did, and moved to Summerside, PEI. So that's why I hadn't seen him in a long time. And at least three people stopped to congratulate me about the cooking show/blog. Yay!

My driver showed up around 1:25 (my pickup time) and he was very jolly. I got a bit of a sightseeing trip in Etobicoke before he dropped me off. When I got in, I was really tired. So I decided on a nap from 3:18, setting the alarm at 5:50. 2.5 hours, a decent bit. Imagine my shock when I woke up (rather reluctantly) at 6:38. That meant that I'd flailed my arm out, shutting off the alarm, rolling over and falling back asleep, promptly developing amnesia that I'd even been awake at all. Ow. Sleeeeeeepy, still. As there was no phone call from John, I suspected he'd taken a cottage-day. I finally made myself some dinner around 10: half a huge very leafy romaine, a handful of sugar snap peas, a can of salmon and home shook-up dressing of olive oil and red wine vinegar. Well, at least it was nutritious. And, now, I'm going to have a rye and ginger which will probably put me back in la-la-la land. Nighty-night, all. And beatific dreams only.
