... until I remembered something else (okay, two somethings) that are now gone forever. Just as I'm reconciling myself to having said goodbye to that uppity frog (or the DVDs), I threw out a painting I'd done in Grade 7 or 8 of Santa coming down the chimney. In the same packing tube was a pastel portrait of me at 16 or 17, done at the summer fair where I worked. I'm sitting here stunned - and sad - because, if you were to look at my first passport picture taken in the early 90s and compare it to the pastel, you'd see the same person. No, not Helenka aka Dorian, just strong facial structure, really short hair and it's-all-in-the-eyes.

So, yes, I'm being all sadz. And that's really too bad because I accomplished a lot today. I cleared away stuff, removed the glass top from my computer table and turned it into a quasi-dining table, placing it in the kitchen. flanked by two chairs. Hee - I can sit while waiting for my microwave to beep. Or offer a guest a cuppa.

I also hauled out the photo albums and loose piccies, spreading them on the bed. I was astonished to find my wedding piccies in one because I thought one of my friends had tossed it inadvertently. But, no, there were piccies also of our first anniversary party earlier the same year. ::sighs:: OTOH, I'm pretty sure I did toss the marriage certificate accidentally. Mind you, I don't think inability to produce it will prevent me from eventually filing for a divorce. Eventually.

I texted church-John (who has SO many friends) to see if he knew anyone volunteering on Christmas Eve who lives near me and could drive me home. Well, the dear man said he'd reprise his role from last year (even though I'm way out of his neighbourhood. But what a sweetheart ... and now I can officially volunteer and feel safe getting home around 1 a.m.

Okay, mind, it's time to regain the feeling of serenity and contentment you had earlier in the day. Blonde powers, ACTIVATE!
