::whispers tentatively:: I think I may have - possibly - survived my mild winter cold. I fell asleep without resorting to medication (or alcohol) and woke up at 5:19 after 4 hours of sleep. It's not ideal, but - hey - I still slept.

So where does the laughter come in? Well, today is apparently Blue Monday ... the third Monday in January when most people (ha! I am SO not "most people"!) come back down to earth, facing a dreary winter and a deluge of credit card bills, etc. I wasn't feeling blue, but I still thought laughter should be on the menu. I rewatched the Air Farce New Year's Eve 2016 special. Actually, more like watched, as I'd missed a lot on the first run through. [BTW, the F-Bomb was dropped on - who else but - Trump.] Then I watched Ron James True North. I'd never heard of him but I thoroughly enjoyed his one-hour stand-up comedy routine. He's an excellent storyteller from Nova Scotia (as are many from the Atlantic provinces usually featured on CBC Radio). He was witty, irreverent and occasionally in bad taste, but the audience loved it. So, I'm crediting the two hours of raucous laughter for making me feel better.

I also nodded off in the late afternoon, waking up at 6:30. Oops! Time to hit the restart button for the news. Enjoyed more Canadian TV with tonight's doggy Murdoch Mysteries. Hmm. Perhaps the trick is Canadian laughter specifically? Works for me.

Right now, I'm indulging myself with a vodka & tonic and my Christmas truffles from the chicken place. That works for me, too. ::snickers and scampers away to catch up on the net::
