::sighs:: Well, the universe ordered a reminder anyway. Why? Because I'd arranged to make the endlessly-tedious walk to the cheapie supermarket with John. He said we'd do it after 4 today when he got home. He phoned me to say it'd be around 6, so I started getting ready slowly. As I was quite afraid of the unpredictable wind, I pinned my circular scarf around my head before securing it with my beret. Hey, it's to keep the wind from insinuating itself down my neck.
We set out in full darkness and - even with company and seeing some of the houses decorated - it really was tedious; I'm also not used to walking in the dark because of the risk (obstacles, potholes, etc.). I was just so relieved when we finally made it though still had to do my shopping. But, oh, the rewards. I managed to squeeze in a side of smoked salmon and a wheel of Brie, along with all of my other more prosaic necessities (tin of coffee, 4 romaine hearts, 2 English cukes). The only thing it seems the store is no longer carrying is organic raw sugar. But, still, I came within $6 of my budget, so was extremely pleased. John also pointed out later that the "lady" in front of me in the checkout was quite fashionable and limber, even though she was well into her 70s. I'm always amused to see how well-off people will shop at this particular location.
Now that I was warmed up, we had to walk home. ::sighs again:: Luckily, the wind had died down completely, so we didn't have that to deal with, just my burning foot and clutching fingers and tense forearms. I know, is that all? We made it home before 8 which I found unbelievable. But my body was more than believing. As it screamed at me, I took a couple of pain pills and had a wee nap. though not before I texted church-John about my ride tomorrow to church. So ... church. What am I wearing? I haven't a bloody clue and I don't care. I'll deal with that tomorrow morning. Right now, I just need a couple more pain pills - and the extinction of the pain. ::sighs a way lot more::
