So, once again, I am rewriting the laws of medicine. After putting on many layers to protect me from the cold (and being frivolous by wearing my patent Mary Jane shoes and hoity-toity with my pearl necklaces and earrings after having given my poor lizard hands a paraffin bath), I was ready to go all out for high tea at 1:00 p.m. Church-John showed up soon after and we were on our way. When we got to the hotel, Ash was already seated at the table.

As before (with Brian), the service was attentive, the food sublime. The savoury treats were especially clever, though the sweet ones were also imaginative. This time I chose the King Edward blend that was light jasmine and assam. I decided to drink it all with only a touch of sugar. C-J chose the same blend while Ash indulged in memories of her vacay in Provence with Rouge de Provence.

The hilariously ironic thing is that Brian's and my mutual friend Peter (we enjoy an amiage à troi) sent both of us a breathless announcement of tea at the castle. Well, I brought him back down to earth, and mentioned we'd made a quick adjustment, choosing the hotel instead.

Even though it had been sunny, by the time we left, dusk was settling in. I sat outside in my wheelchair while c-J went off to retrieve the car. So, I'd had sun, wine, laughter, being social, and now I allowed the cold air to touch my eyeball. And now, hours later, I'm still seeing crisp yellow font on my screen. ::yells offscreen, "More wine for all!"::

Back at my place, c-J tried to fix my can opener (eek! an emergency). He ended up taking it with him. If he can't fix it, he'll buy me a new one this week. In the meantime, the only cans with tabs are dolmades and black olives! So, I'll just add wine, lol. I've already delayed my grocery order; I think the earliest I can be home for delivery (once I place it) will be Wednesday. It's a long wait.

Anyway, I think I need to lie down. I'm still feeling full (so much tea).
