Well, not really the same thing, but this weather is ridiculous.
I'm tempted to turn the fireplace on, but then I'd have to go into the living room. Le sigh. So, I'm sitting at my desk, shivering and still eating my lunch which ended up being dinner.
I had to wear a coat to church this morning ... and socks, too! But I had a really nice driver who took the DVP up past Bloor and then cut across one of the most beautiful secret streets in TO, Rosedale Valley Road. Because of the rain, rain, rain, I've never seen the foliage as lush and green as this year.
Brent was away from church, visiting family, so one of our deacons preached. He used one of the slightly challenging Bible passages for his sermon ("Take up your mat and follow me") and did a really good job. And, OMG, one of our congregation who moved to Hawaii ages ago was visiting and I was thrilled to get a hug from him. He is an absolutely amazing singer and I've missed him so much. I was also telling some of my troubles to Mum and it's nice to be able to commiserate openly with someone.
Even though it seemed colder than in the morning and threatening more rain, after church I sat outside and read my Middlesex book. But, yaaaaay, my ride was early. That always makes me happy. Then I learned about something very bad that had happened in a northwest suburb of TO. There had been a propane plant explosion in the middle of the night, resulting in highway closures and evacuations. So, my driver had to do some on-the-spot diversionary navigation. Still, he got me to my side of the lake very efficiently. I stopped in at the supermarket and bought my fave foods: 'nanas, tomatoes, lettuce, yellow plums, tortillas, mango OJ, eggs, and interesting sausages (i/o bacon). Also parsley, because last night I discovered a few boxes of tabbouli mix. Yaaaay. I can haz tabbouli.
And I walked home ... In.The.Rain. Lunch was a couple of pudding cups and then I shivered my way into bed for a long nap. When I woke up, I e-mailed Brian (with whom I'd been texting back and forth before church). I'm glad he's coming home tonight.
Anyway, that is/was my cold day. Wet, too.
And,
tx_cronopio, if you're reading this, I'm sharing the cold with you, too. Well, Texas, anyway. ::tries to divert weather pattern with the power of my mind::
Silly, tired, cold hugs (I know, what an inviting combination),
The me of me.
