Oh, yes, many walks were made today.
I finally roused myself to get out the door after 1 p.m. It's warm enough that I didn't have to bother with a coat. I hurried over to the salon to get a pedicure and - yaaaay - I was the only customer when I showed up. I was done by 3:15 and headed out, with pretty red toenails. And, OMG, she must have scrubbed 10 layers of dead skin off.
I dropped off my eyedrops refill request at the pharmacy and then went across the street to do grocery shopping. Eeek! Prices are way up. But I still wanted to splurge, so I bought fresh figs and roma grape tomatoes and other goodies for Monday. Also picked up a bbq chicken and small containers of mac salad and coleslaw. I decided that Brian and I deserved to have a picnic by the lake. Okay, so then I trundled home and ... Ooooops! I'd reached my driveway when I realised I hadn't picked up my prescription. Oy. So I went the few extra feet, dropped off all my groceries, opened the windows and went back to the pharmacy. Okay, I have my eyedrops. So, now, I'm home and I'm ravenously hungry, because all I'd had was juice and two 'nanas. So I had cheesies.
While waiting for Brian, I cut the legs off the chicken and packaged them in plastic containers. I also got utensils, salt & pepper grinders, napkins and wetnaps ready. Okay, I'm set. All I need is that baby brother of mine. Who, unfortunately, didn't leave work until 5:30-ish. After his text message, I had a call from John, thanking me again for last night's dinner and suggesting we do walkies again soon. Oy. More walking.
Brian showed up at 6:00 with my new Swiffer Sweeper-Vac and a big pack of paper towels (but he forgot the weights). I grabbed my winter coat and gloves and we headed out. We walked down to the water's edge. We had supper on the boardwalk bridge and talked and laughed. Afterwards, we needed to keep warm (as the sun was setting), so we walked to the extreme eastern edge of the park and then turned back. We headed to the rocky portion closest to the water and sat, enjoying the last rays of the sun warming our faces. And, finally, we walked to the extreme western edge of the park, exiting it and making our way back to the main street and heading back home. I did a lot of huffing and puffing (from the uphill climb). So, I certainly got my walking done today.
Brian was very funny. He knew I could have had more exciting company today and said I could have cancelled him. Right. He still reminds me of when I blew him off more than a decade ago. I'm not going to do that again.
After he left, I had a glitchy time with the 'puter. But, finally, it did its thing. I found an e-mail from the director of worship which was quite lovely: full of compliments and wanting to promote me to do more within my volunteer ministry at church. After yesterday's already uplifted emotions, this really was the icing on the cake! So, I replied, thanking her for her thoughtfulness and said that we definitely should talk. It is a wonderful thing to be appreciated. ::nods firmly::
Anyway, I've yadda yadda'd quite a bit, so I think I'll go drink some soda water and think about sleep.
