... deserves its own post.

I spent a pretty awful day with abdominal pain. Ack. After two gravol and 6-8 pepto bismol and a 30-minute lie-down after my makeup was on, I was able to continue getting dressed. I wore a long flowing black dress covered with my sparkly capelet, together with one of my sparkly Dior pendants (a crystal studded globe that opens into a lip gloss with mirror) and art deco crystal earrings. My ride was early and I arrived so quickly that I was able to catch the last few remnants of the sunset through the windows of his party room on the top floor.

So, I finally saw what he'd been keeping a secret from me. He had a table on which there was a PYRAMID, a DHD, a STARGATE, the path to the pyramid lined with palm trees!!!!!!!!!!!!! Okay, so I thought he'd bought a prop. Um ... no. It. Was. A. Cake!!!!!!!!! Not enough !!!!!!!!! A golden pyramid and all the rest, with Happy (etc.) written in heiroglyphs (I want him to send me a piccie so I can check out the accuracy).

When I arrived, there was only one friend there helping him in the kitchen, so I was happy to be able to relax and answer the door as more people arrived. I'd turned on the fireplace (thought it tooks its time to get going) before I staked out a spot on one of the couches. Brian's brother finally met me, or as he put it, I'm no longer "virtual" Helenka, now that he's met me (because, obviously, Brian talks about me and his other TO friends a lot). Brian's mom and partner were there, as well as his S-I-L and one of his sisters. It was a nice bunch of people and, because of the layout, things didn't get too crowded. There was music playing and thankfully it wasn't toooooo loud.

When people finally started eating, there was a mountain of food: shrimp and cocktail sauce, crudites, greek salad, chili, meatballs in sauce, dips, various cheeses and crackers, mini quiches, spankopita, fresh fruit. I think I got a bit of everything on my plate. And I drank a fruit punch (with vodka) but the fruit clogged up the spout, so we had to ladle out the liquid.

After we ate, Brian showed a couples of vids: a special one he'd made as a retrospective of his life (and I was in a lot of the stills) to the main theme of Enterprise. Of course, the family members really got a kick out of that. And, yes, the Star Trek Adventure as well. He'd decided NOT to show our first two cooking shows, but was persuaded to put the first one on. ::giggles:: People thought he looked too stern, but I was a great sidekick.

We sang him Happy Birthday (in a reasonable key). Then, it was time to open prezzies. We made sure he had his sparkly tiara that one of his friends had bought especially for him! And he had a designated gift fairy to carry each prezzie or card up to his designated throne. When the gift fairy carried up my bottle, he dropped it. Oh - am I ever glad I used a plastic bottle. Anyway, Brian read the outside layer of sheets inside that had just the salutation and piccie of the duck (and told everyone that I write him stories that usually include him as a character in them). So, yay for me and my imaginative prezzie. He got nice stuff and that made me happy.

After that, people started helping to clean up. As my ride home was scheduled for 12:10, I left around 12:03 carrying a loot bag. Yay - and, yes, I am so FIVE! When I got down to the lobby, my ride was already there, so I got home very quickly. Mind you, I still didn't get to sleep until 2:00 a.m. Eeeeeeeek. I need sleep because of church. But that's another post.
