Just don't ask me how much pain I was in this morning, even while sleeping. My fingers were horribly swollen. I woke up at 7 but crawled back into bed after I got my phone call about my rides. The alarm was set for 10. So what was I doing shortly before 10? Dreaming, my dears, that's what. It turns out that Radek Zelenka (Radek, mind you, not David Nykl) and I were riding around in Switzerland. He'd just gone out of his way to show me a certain part of the country. When we got back in the car, I assumed a defeated position and said that it was okay to leave now. But he protested. "No, no, no, no. You will not be satisfied if I do not take you to Liesl as well. So we will go." And I told him he was the best friend ever. So, is there a Liesl in Switzerland? Well, if there is, I can't find it. But it was an adorable dream.
I did some printing for John, so he came down before I started getting dressed. And off I went on my bureaucratic venture again. Once I'd taken care of business, I retraced my steps in Lakeshore Villages from yesterday. Other businesses I noticed: a Sushi restaurant; a bong shop next to the pastry shop; a windowless Adult Entertainment place. I was tempted by sushi but didn't give in. I nearly went into the pastry shop. When I reached my turnaround point, I crossed the street. I stopped in at the drugstore, as I'd forgotten to buy something. Ack, they didn't have it. I also stopped in at The Village Butcher where the owner greeted me. The place had fine sawdust on the floor. I told him I'd bring my seeing-eye person the next time.
So I got back to my pickup point around 1:45. Ack. It's cold and windy and the sun is much weaker than it was yesterday. So I was thrilled to see the familiar white bus pull up to the corner EARLY. I told the driver that this was the most beautiful sight in the world. He asked if I meant the bus or him? Ever-so-diplomatic, I replied, "Both!"
When I got in, I had more than enough time to get ready for Brian. Who was delayed because of work. But we were off to his place where he was making the low-cal version of Fettucinne Alfredo. Um, it didn't work out well. And it was a lot of work. We both felt let down. Anyway, I won't see Brian for two weeks, as he's traveling on business next week. So, I suggested I make my Christmas dinner the following week. After all, the viewing audience doesn't need to know it's sunny and warm out. Ah ... reality. Is something that can be bent to suit one's schedule. Well, I'm tired out now, as if I hadn't been before. Add to it the back aches, etc. So I'm packing myself off to bed. NOW!
