Though I was up at 7, I foofed about on the 'puter, reading, until I finally got myself into the shower. Brekkie was juice and ... wah - no 'nanas. I dressed in my Thursday glamour wear (with red jewelry this time). My driver was early so I was off shortly after noon up to my CNIB meeting. Today's speaker was from the CCAC, so I learned all about special resources in the community. The speaker also handed out folders (very useful).

Afterwards, as I wasn't expecting my ride until 3:40, I had plenty of time to go down the block and across the street to a greengrocer. I managed to get nearly everything I needed for Christmas dinner with Brian! I picked up a lovely large romaine lettuce, two bunches of green onions, at least 6 stalks of cherry tomatoes on the vine, a medium red onion, a large container of strawberries and ginger ale. I really wanted to get something decadent for dessert, but they didn't have any fresh pastries (something that was a long cylinder stuffed with custard); and the lady refused to sell what they had to me when she heard of the special celebration tonight. So, instead, I picked up two tangerines and 2 each of tootsie rolls, M&Ms, and Dark Chocolate Hershey bars to make wee loot bags.

Then I walked back to the Centre. My driver was there by 3:30 (yay) and got me home very quickly. Okay, I'm dressed, but I need to put on my more luxurious hairpiece. Then I eviscerated the lettuce, choosing only the inner stalks. Added three green onions and a small red pepper from the fridge. I'll make Brian wash and chop them. Added bottles of Grand Marnier and Rye, plus cans of gravy and cranberry sauce. I waited until Brian called to say he was leaving work before making the stuffing in the microwave. And then I was ready, adding sauteed 'shrooms and sliced turkey breast.

When we got to his place, he got all sorts of stuff washed and ready. When I mentioned it would be nice if he had whipped cream, he pulled out a container of whipping cream and whipped it! I made him add Grand Marnier. He also put in some sugar. Yum!

And, then, we started taping. I got to talk about how - because I can't do all these physical things - I made really quick and easy Christmas dinners for my other chosen brother and sister. It was fabulous to see how quickly dinner was ready. The stuffing had been kept warm in the oven; the gravy had thyme added to it; the cranberry sauce got a splash of Grand Marnier; the salad dressing was olive oil, balsamic vinegar and honey dijon mustard. Because this was meant to be a family dinner, the food was plated on a large platter and decorated with a few cherry tomatoes. I also brought out the loot bags (okay, so they were Halloween patterns). And, then, we bade our audience a goodnight and sat down to devour the feast.

There's something decadent about having a mound of turkey, dressing, gravy and cranberry sauce all piled on top of each other. Along with the dwinkies and the dessert which had the addition of Brian's homemade brownie on top of the whipped cream, we were stuffed. After dinner we discussed our tapings during the summer. We've decided to focus almost exclusively on salads (healthy and easy). I also want to make my famous gazpacho. And, then, it was time to pack me up (along with extra brownies to share with John). Of course, at that point my spine decided to start screaming. Um, yes, spine, I get the point. Now, please shut up. I'll take a pain killer. But, yes, my taped-way-in-advance Christmas special with my baby brother had been a blast! So it was worth it.
