Yes, I'm being silly. Alf'll do that to you.

But ... amazingly enough ... I had a good day today. Although it took me ages to get my bod out the door, I finally did around 3. Well, I think today was the last day for bare painted toes. I dropped in at the drugstore, then did food shopping. Finally, back home. I made myself a toasted bagel with marmalade (yes, thank you very much, Paddington) and a pot of jasmine tea. It was all so civilized.

As I sat and enjoyed my rather late lunch, I prepared dinner. I'd bought a pot roast. I simmered it with white merlot, onion soup mix, sliced mushrooms, turnip chunks, baby roma tomatoes, whole multi-coloured baby peppers, too-little ground salt & pepper and fresh thyme, sage and rosemary from my garden. Well, I figured if it got close to freezing tonight, I may as well get good use from the herbs. I accompanied my dinner with a couple of glasses of the merlot. The brilliant colours of the dish were autumn-appropriate. And then I watched Travelers. Oh, John. Don't get taken in by that hussy! Again??? And Rodney, you are quite justified to roll your eyes! Well, my goal is to interweave my own sequel!fic among canon episodes. That way, I figure it will flow more realistically. Who me? In denial. Yes, it's a long river in Egypt. I don't care: fanon any day over canon. And I added still more icons, many from future SGA eps.

So, I felt good. Was I free of pain? No. Actually I was in constant pain. Were my body parts behaving? No, both wrists were swollen. Is everything sunshiny? No, M and I are attending a memorial service tomorrow. And yet, and yet ... I felt entirely at peace. Getting more responses to my fic and enjoying writing back certainly played a large role. Now I could kick myself for my straying away last summer. Duh. The contact would have made me feel better. Oh, well, I'm not likely to make that mistake again.

Anyway, I must toddle off to sleep. Long day tomorrow. [And M is probably still up watching bull riding. Ooooh. The sekrit is out! Yes, I'm baaaaad.]

Appreciative hugs,
H.

Hey now, I like bullriding too, although I haven't seen it in at least a month.

Boo hiss about the swollen wrists. My day is coming soon as far as arthritis in my hands goes. It's in my little fingers already, and I never DREAMED joints so tiny could hurt so much. All hail Aspercreme.

Between the Army causing me to torture my hands constantly (I'm hoping changing to an indoor MOS will help) and the fact that I've got arthritis in both sides of my family (my dad's mother had knuckles the size of gumballs), I am just taking it as a fact of life that I'll be in a lot of pain in my hands fairly soon.

Um, bull riding? Great. Next time you come over (up) here, you and M can watch the bull riding and I'll hide in the bedroom!

What's an MOS????? And, I'm sorry to hear that you've got genetic gifts from both sides of your family (as if one wouldn't have been enough). Well, as the doctors suggested, washing dishes in hot water is good therapy, because you are moving your fingers. Although how low tech can you go?

Anyway, the wrist thing is especially worrisome for me because of my dependence on a walker. The days of cane only are so last year. So, holding on to the walker means I can walk; but holding on to the walker puts additional pressure on the wrists. Um, conundrum here!

Mix-and-match body part hugs,
H.

MOS = Method of Service, i.e. the job you do. My primary MOS is 92W (water purification), but I'm re-MOSing (it's a verb in Armese) to 27D (paralegal). As I said in my other LJ, I need to retire the Quartermaster (shown here) and get the JAG crest as an icon.

How low tech can you go? Wash in a bucket, hauled out of a well the way [personal profile] taxlady did when she lived in a Quebec forest. Apparently it was not a lot of fun in the winter.

::giggles:: Oh, it sounds just like Pioneer Quest (which I refuse to watch for that very reason). But I meant low-tech (washing dishes) in terms of medical advice. You just keep washing them dishes, honey. to which my polite response would be Gee thanks, doc although I would be thinking of something much, much cruder!

Ugghh. Too early to think of anything having to do with cold water. Cold water is for drinking. Period.

Although, I am intrigued by why [livejournal.com profile] taxlady lived in a Quebec forest. Canadian contingent of Smurfs, perhaps? [No, I haven't had breakfast yet, which is why I'm perhaps being overcome by giggles).

And thanks for explaining the re-MOSing. Hee! Armese? As she is spoke!
Lots and lots of hugs,
H.

She lived in the woods because she wanted to get back to nature.
