But, instead, I'll stare at Susan and Talia. Yup ... it's a reward.

So, why do I deserve ... yadda, yadda?

Because I spent three whole hours in the hospital waiting room until the doctor saw me. It seems he had lasering and other, um, time-wasters (and, yes, I'm being facetious, because everything he does is good ... but, still!) so I really did perfect the art of sitting still and not doing anything.

Well, after that unusual display of mannequin-ness (mannequinity?), I deserved a reward. So, on the way home, I stopped off at the salon on the corner and got my hair washed (ohhhhh, bliss) and a John Lennon trim (basically just bangs and the back). And, even though my face is still swollen and all that, I do feel a bit better.

But, I seem to be getting ahead of myself. So, what was the verdict at the hospital? The doctor says the retina has been successfully re-attached (small cheer) and that the vision should improve over time. Yes, I could see his fingers, but couldn't see the eye chart. As for M's heroic offer to do the eyedrops, the doctor said I wouldn't be needing them. Yes, obviously, I am invincible over teh ev0l drops! And I also scored a good deal at the pharmacy in the hospital: an 8 month supply of multi-vitamins for $13.99. I guess that was to placate me for warming the seat in the waiting room.

When I came back to my building, I sat out by the water as the sun was still shining on one picnic table and stared at the silly sailor out on the water. Hey, guy, it's still awfully cold out and you wouldn't want to fall in!

John called and I have engaged his services to put my cookbook collection back where it belongs tomorrow morning. And Brian finally, finally called. Sheesh! And M called and is very, very pleased about the outcome of my medical visit. So, overall verdict is a satisfying day.

Tired hugs to all,
H.
Oh, and before I forget, a woman won The Biggest Loser so WOO-HOO to her!

Very glad the retina is re-attached!

Can you believe that some people like to swim in near-freezing water? Not that I ever had any desire to swim in Lake Ontario. I don't like coming out all slimy.

Polar Bear Swin, anyone?
Brrrrrrrrr.
Some people are definitely out to lunch permanently!

As for the slime factor (why does this sound like an X-Files feature), I believe there is one beach (on Ward's Island) that is fairly uncontaminated. I'll also be interested to see how the new beach in front of my place will be, as this is primarily a residential area. ::keeps fingers crossed:: Not that I'm planning of going in, but ....

Anyway, this is semi-pirate Bob, signing off.
