So, there was a huge thing on the Anniversary of BtVS on FB yesterday. But, as it was late, I didn't get around to playing the clips, etc. It was fascinating to play the unaired pilot with a Willow who wasn't played by Aly. I'm really glad they recast the role because it really suited Aly's acting skills.

Reading the article and watching the clips reminded me of how much fun it was to be connected on a more personal level with a huge fandom (so unlike how it was in the early days - pre computer - of so many other fandoms). Oh, some lovely memories of ye goode olde dayes.

Okay, I admit it was partly my fault, for becoming so engrossed in a story that I stayed up reading until 2:30; then, off to bed. Uh ... didn't work. So I got out at 2:57 and returned to reading. Finally felt that sleep might come around 4, so back to bed. I was yawning widely as I turned the light off. A good sign. And it was. I didn't wake up until 11:27 a.m. Hee - my piggy cartoon starts at 11:30.

However, my day was basically useless. No energy to do anything but lie in bed in the afternoon. Then I had a mini-BtVS festival with "Smashed" and "Wrecked". Alas, I really missed being able to watch on my TV with the speakers blazing to capture the passion-fueled essence of Christophe Beck's music.

In the evening, I watched my game shows and my current fave on Jeopardy! won again. Yay. After that, watched a rerun of Big Bang Theory, followed by cartoons. Am really hoping I can get that definitely urgently needed pedi tomorrow, if the weather permits. Crossing my fingers extra tightly for good sleep prospects tonight.
Well, perhaps no longer a lion ... or a defanged one. Today, our guest preacher was Michael Coren, a former ultra-conservative whose views of the LGBT community were not charitable at all. However, he had an epiphany, left the Roman Catholic Faith and shared his story with us. Because of the public nature of his exodus, he has been vilified by many of his former admirers and colleagues and has lost many writing/speaking contracts.

I had a little trouble listening to him because, even at 56, he retains a British accent and speaks very quickly. I'll probably have to watch the webcast. He spoke about "love" and "grace" and how both had been a huge part of his professional and personal life. When he was finished, I felt so moved that I could barely breathe. He's now intending to seek a Masters of Divinity Degree and ultimately be ordained in the Anglican Church of Canada.

Other than that, it was a miserable day, cool and very wet. The forecast had said "rain beginning in the afternoon". Ha! It started the moment I stepped out onto the back deck at 9:10 a.m. I also had to contend with Ce-Ce standing with her paws against the back door ("No, little girl, you are NOT going out!"). I had to shoo her away in order to allow Grumpy to come in from out of the rain. Sigh. Yes, I'm the gatekeeper, lol. Because of the dull weather, I wore all black (including my purse and tote), but brightened everything up with one of my old red/white scarves, along with my ruby bee earrings.

Ashley didn't make it to church, so church-John gifted me with her brekkie, two hash-brown patties. Anything else to report on at church? Well, there was something added at the end, namely a recorded message from Justin Trudeau wishing Brent a happy 65th. I was getting ready to slip out, so I just heard it. I'll see it on the webcast.

The rain continued through the afternoon. Ugh. I also acknowledged the Bell Tech who came to work on the phone line; however, I also lost the TV and 'net signals. So I decided to watch "Once More With Feeling". Even though I gave away ALL of my BtVS DVDs, I still had three epis on my computer. I also watched an S4 epi from N.C.I.S. ("Driven").

SuM and I talked about how much furniture I need to move. Okay, I'm not going to bother about the couch or lamps. I'll just fold up the dining table and move it out of the way. ::breathes huge sigh of relief::

Since I began doing FB summaries of each Sunday's church service (started last November), readers have asked me if I'm saving the summaries, especially because FB can be so ... idiosyncratic (aren't I being kind?). So I C&P'd every summary into a word doc that I'll save somewhere. But at least I'll have a fairly detailed report, even if it's only for my benefit.

I'd really wanted to make a BLT "salad". What's that? Well, duh, romaine, tomatoes (both sundried and fresh), bacon, and croutons, along with dressing. Instead I ate TWO romaine hearts and then made bacon on a bagel. Chased down by my last Bloody Caesar. Nom, anyway.
I'm still surprised at how not intoxicated I was last night. But, then again, when I did lie down for the night, my spine was screaming bloody murder at me, enough that I was frankly shocked to have fallen asleep at all ... and to have slept until 9:40 this morning. So, in a way, the wine did dull the pain slightly.

Had a mostly lazy day (though I did do a load of laundry and washed my red satin scarf that had been hiding between the coffee table and the couch). Watched The Blacklist from Thursday and also "The Perfect Man" I'd recorded. I'd seen it when it came out and enjoyed the participation of Carson Kressley. I was surprised to note that the soundtrack had been by Christophe Beck (he of Buffy fame). TBH, I thought the music was pedestrian and lacked much of what made him an amazing composer on BtVS - his love theme (for Buffy and Angel) as well as the gripping, desperate, passionate music in Wrecked and Smashed. You know - when Buffy and Spike finally got together. I was really mad at the TV network showing it because they devoted 2.5 hours to showing it, and managed to butcher scenes by plopping in a zillion commercials wherever they wanted. Ugh.

Finally got around to doing the dishes from last night. Then packed away two mince tarts to take to church. Food for the day was leftovers, including that exquisite bleu cheese and more water crackers. Right now I'm drinking Cola and thinking I'd better go to sleep soon. Because I'd like to be lively at church!
Woke up waaaaaaay too early, but stayed up anyway. Luckily, my groceries were delivered at the start of the available window, so shortly after 8:00 a.m., I was trying to sort and store them. Somehow, diva cat thought this required her assistance. Sorry, but NOT.

I had a hankering for some BtVS, so watched both "Smashed" and "Wrecked". Wasn't as satisfying as I'd been hoping for. I still remember how powerful Christophe Beck's passion-infused music had made the sexual encounter in the wrecked house so amazing. Hmmm. I wonder if it's because not all my speakers are working on Liblikas.

I had a bit of a slump in the afternoon and then watched my usual tv shows. Unfortunately, I was having connectivity problems to the 'net, so had to growl in frustration until I finally restarted (the engine). Okay, much better. Now have to catch up. Oh, too bad. We don't have a basketball win tonight. Bring on Game 7. And OMG I read the transcript of RoFo's latest spewing of garbage. Even worse than I expected.

There's a whole menagerie overhead for the weekend but at least the animals seem to have calmed down finally. ::breathes huge sigh of relief:: Anyway, time to think about sleep. And perhaps even do it!
First, there was the utter normalcy of going to sleep around midnight and not setting the alarm. But I woke up around 7 anyway. Oy.

Unfortunately, I had a nasty headache so didn't even bother opening my door to allow the pets to visit me. Well, they'll get me tomorrow. However, I did try to make myself feel better by watching BtVS, namely "Once More With Feeling". ::giggles:: Well, a good feeling.

I enjoyed watching my game shows in the evening and even surprised myself by solving several Wheel of Fortune puzzles. Usually, my sight is too poor for me to focus properly.

SuM (accompanied by two-thirds of the menagerie) came down to pick up my garbage (oh, dear, my especially stinky organics because of a rotten orange). She's headed to the greengrocer's after work tomorrow, so I may put in a wee request (as I guess she'll be biking down).

Finally got around to panning Dan in this week's Savage Love column. It's fun when WE get to tell the "experts" that their advice was good or bad. And I had a little exchange of comments in another Slog column.

Beyond that, it was just having too much pain in my head. But, as my cellphone alarm needed recharging, I couldn't take the risk of an open-ended nap. So I guess I'll let tonight's sleep help. ::crosses fingers::
