Well, perhaps no longer a lion ... or a defanged one. Today, our guest preacher was Michael Coren, a former ultra-conservative whose views of the LGBT community were not charitable at all. However, he had an epiphany, left the Roman Catholic Faith and shared his story with us. Because of the public nature of his exodus, he has been vilified by many of his former admirers and colleagues and has lost many writing/speaking contracts.
I had a little trouble listening to him because, even at 56, he retains a British accent and speaks very quickly. I'll probably have to watch the webcast. He spoke about "love" and "grace" and how both had been a huge part of his professional and personal life. When he was finished, I felt so moved that I could barely breathe. He's now intending to seek a Masters of Divinity Degree and ultimately be ordained in the Anglican Church of Canada.
Other than that, it was a miserable day, cool and very wet. The forecast had said "rain beginning in the afternoon". Ha! It started the moment I stepped out onto the back deck at 9:10 a.m. I also had to contend with Ce-Ce standing with her paws against the back door ("No, little girl, you are NOT going out!"). I had to shoo her away in order to allow Grumpy to come in from out of the rain. Sigh. Yes, I'm the gatekeeper, lol. Because of the dull weather, I wore all black (including my purse and tote), but brightened everything up with one of my old red/white scarves, along with my ruby bee earrings.
Ashley didn't make it to church, so church-John gifted me with her brekkie, two hash-brown patties. Anything else to report on at church? Well, there was something added at the end, namely a recorded message from Justin Trudeau wishing Brent a happy 65th. I was getting ready to slip out, so I just heard it. I'll see it on the webcast.
The rain continued through the afternoon. Ugh. I also acknowledged the Bell Tech who came to work on the phone line; however, I also lost the TV and 'net signals. So I decided to watch "Once More With Feeling". Even though I gave away ALL of my BtVS DVDs, I still had three epis on my computer. I also watched an S4 epi from N.C.I.S. ("Driven").
SuM and I talked about how much furniture I need to move. Okay, I'm not going to bother about the couch or lamps. I'll just fold up the dining table and move it out of the way. ::breathes huge sigh of relief::
Since I began doing FB summaries of each Sunday's church service (started last November), readers have asked me if I'm saving the summaries, especially because FB can be so ... idiosyncratic (aren't I being kind?). So I C&P'd every summary into a word doc that I'll save somewhere. But at least I'll have a fairly detailed report, even if it's only for my benefit.
I'd really wanted to make a BLT "salad". What's that? Well, duh, romaine, tomatoes (both sundried and fresh), bacon, and croutons, along with dressing. Instead I ate TWO romaine hearts and then made bacon on a bagel. Chased down by my last Bloody Caesar. Nom, anyway.
