Oy.
Just oy.

Okay, I'll start at the beginning.

After a night when I stayed up until 3-ish, I didn't wake up until 10:30. John needed my assistance to print something off and ... my black screen was telling me there was NOTHING on the page. He said to just print it anyway. ::looks at print on page:: Oh. Where'd that come from? Anyway, he went out and left me to my machinations. So what did I have planned? Well, my Dorm Room (TM?) isn't fully functional, because the microwave is not set up.

I worked hard all afternoon, first removing stuff off the sideboard, dusting and then sliding the 6-foot piece of furniture until it abutted the fireplace. Whew! Done. Then I had to slide the huge speaker into the window corner before setting up a glass and black iron table onto which I hoisted the microwave. I'd had to lift up the CPU (gently, because it had a red extension wire connecting it in the next room) and placed it diagonally behind the monitor, so I could still load discs and use all the drives. Another whew! Done. [Just one minor frustration: the left rear speaker popped its cover off and I think it's behind the sideboard but, as I couldn't see anything other than a black mass I assumed was all those computer cords, I couldn't discern it.]

Finally, I connected the extension cord to the microwave and plugged it in. Um ... by now, I'm sure you know where I'm headed. Doomed. I tell you, I'm doomed with the power gods. I brought out today's dinner entrée (hadn't had lunch yet) and started heating it up. 5-4-3-2-1. I just blew the fuse in my bedroom. So I had to call the office that was, by now, around 4:40, sending all calls to voicemail. No!!!!! I need the fuse replaced, because also no power to the bathroom.

First I had to remove everything from one shelf of the linen closet (because that's the brilliant NOT place the builder had put the fuse box). The curious cat kept looking up and I could tell she really, really wanted to jump up. Um ... no. Finally the super came, replaced the fuse and I have power restored. Just no way to heat my food which had to go into the oven.

Here I'd been looking forward to having everything set up and then being able to have a leisurely shower. Um ... no. Too exhausted and frustrated. I had my dinner (lunch) which didn't satisfy me (the cabbage roll portion was tiny, so I won't order it again). I ate the tiny bit of leftovers from last night and burned my mouth. I think the flavours became much more intense overnight. I needed a 2-hour nap, so I'm up now, wondering what mischief I can get into, even though I'm feeling frustrated. Besides ... microwave popcorn??? Um ... no. Not yet. ::pouts for effect::

So I'd better press post, drink my drink and see what there is to read on the old ell-jay tonight. Because tomorrow I have to go shopping for a power cord long enough to reach into the kitchen. Ack! Just frak and frakety-night!
